UAE- 3 gangs selling crackers busted


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police have arrested three different gangs that allegedly specialised in smuggling and selling firecrackers. According to Colonel Mohamed Eid Al Mazloum, Director of the Operations Department of the Sharjah Police, in the first case, two GCC nationals were arrested after the police got information that the duo allegedly possessed huge quantities of explosives and crackers, which they were planning to sell in Sharjah without obtaining a licence from the security authorities concerned. The suspects were even promoting their banned products through their BlackBerry Messenger but they were arrested and the crackers and explosives were seized. In a similar case, two other suspects, one from Comoros and the other from Pakistan, were arrested for allegedly possessing huge quantities of crackers and explosives that they were planning to sell in Sharjah and were looking for buyers for the same. The house of the suspects was raided and the crackers stored in the house were seized. The third case also involved a man from Comoros who was also found trying to sell crackers but his plan was foiled as the police arrested him. According to a police official, the suspects are currently detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution. The Sharjah Police have warned the people against selling or buying firecrackers and explosives that are not authorised as they pose a danger to public safety. Colonel Al Mazloum noted that a police security team has been formed to conduct regular raids to combat negative activities in the society. The police are currently intensifying campaigns to arrest violators who are engaged in such illegal activities.
