Singapore's SilkAir plans to buy 68 Boeing planes


(MENAFN) SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airline, stated that it plans to acquire 68 new Boeing aircraft, the largest order in the company's history, reported Xinhua News. The firm, which at the current time operates 21 Airbus A319s and A320s, said that of the total, 54 airplanes are firm orders, valued at USD4.9 billon on Boeing's current list prices. It added that the 54 aircraft will be delivered between 2014 and 2021, and once they are delivered, the carrier's fleet size will have more than doubled. It is worth noting that SilkAir has the purchase rights for the rest 14 Boeing aircraft.
