Italy's Eni makes new gas finding off Mozambique

(MENAFN) Italian energy firm Eni SpA made a new finding of natural gas off the coast of Mozambique, increasing the proven reserves of the southeast African nation, AP reported. The field includes at least 10 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, increasing the total yield of the area to 70 trillion cubic feet, Eni estimated. The company said the drill site is 60 kilometers (37 miles) off the Capo Delgado coast. Eni has a 70 percent interest in the field, while Portuguese firm GalpEnergia, South Korea's KOGAS and ENH each own 10 percent stake. Recent discoveries in Mozambique have made it a major source of liquefied natural gas in Africa.
