Elementos to begin geophysical testing Tamaya, potential similarities to 476Mt Carmen de Andocollo

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Elementos (ASX: ELT) is now targeting porphyry and structurally related mineralisation at its Tamaya Project in Chile after earlier mapping identified mineralisation similar to Teck Resources' (NYSE:TCK) 476 million tonne Carmen de Andocollo mine. The company is preparing to begin a second phase geophysical survey at Tamaya in mid-August which will test for the two styles of mineralisation. A ground magnetometry survey completed in April 2012 outlined a large magnetic anomaly that is related with evidence of porphyry mineralisation in the eastern sector of the property. An induced polarisation pole-dipole survey will test for the presence of potential sulphide mineralisation related to the porphyry within the magnetic anomaly. Mapping by Elementos has identified evidence of potential porphyry related mineralisation similar to that at the Carmen de Andocollo mine, 40 kilometres to the north, and at the Llhaium deposit, 85 kilometres to the south. Meanwhile, the company will also target structurally related mineralisation in the three main north-south structural trends, including the main vein that was historically mined for high grade copper (sulphide) mineralisation. A number of close-spaced induced polarisation lines will be run across the structures at Central and Tortolas to identify the depth, approximate dip angles and strike extensions of the known high grade copper structures identified on the surface, and blind structures at depth. It will also aim to identify potential zones of sulphide mineralisation in the broad shear and breccia structures that host the main veins. Results of the survey will be used to refine the drill target selection for a drilling program planned for the December quarter. High grade sampling Elementos has previously uncovered two new vein discoveries and high grades of up to 3.83% copper mineralisation from sampling at Tamaya. Demonstrating the widespread nature of the deposit, Elementos has now identified copper mineralisation over a 6 by 3 kilometres area. The two new targets, Lecaros and Tortolas, have been identified in the south of the Tamaya property, with potential for bulk tonnage mineralisation. Tamaya â€" strategically located in major copper-gold district The Tamaya Project is situated in a major copper-gold district hosting the Carmen de Andacollo, El Espino, Tres Valles, and Punitaqui deposits. Historical production at Tamaya is reported to be 2 million tonnes at 12% copper, with Elementos having identified the potential for large volumes of lower grade material.
