India's Essar boosts Iranian oil imports

(MENAFN) India's Essar Oil has more than tripled its monthly Iranian oil purchases to 114,700 barrels per day (bpd) in June, according to Tehran Times which cited Reuters' data. The amount represents a surge of around 70 percent from 2011, with the refiner expected to become India's biggest buyer of Iranian oil next month. During the first 6 months of the current year, the only private refiner in India that purchases Iranian oil acquired almost 44 percent of its crude imports from the Islamic Republic. It is worth noting that recently, Essar Oil has expanded its Vadinar refinery in western Gujarat state to 400,000 bpd.
