(MENAFN- Arab Times) The safety of passengers on board any Kuwait Airways aircraft should not be compromised, so there is no room for debates or negotiations in this regard, says Regional Director of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) Badar Al-Omeiri.
Speaking at the public meeting with the information media and travel agents Thursday, Al-Omeiri stressed the KAC planes are old but safe as the corporation does not allow any aircraft with technical or mechanical faults to take off. He affirmed the corporation has been experiencing significant growth in its revenues as it continues to strive for excellence and to increase sales. He admitted it might take a long time for the corporation to start the implementation of its expansion plans due to certain political issues but it is keen on upgrading its fleet. He added the 'Umrah' flights still continue and there is no problem, which could hinder operation to that destination or other countries because there is no plan to ground any plane in the near future.
Al-Omeiri pointed out that handling human souls is not a game and the company periodically carries out aircraft maintenance operations, which is reflected in the excellence of Kuwait Airways planes compared to other international aviation companies, adding that no aircraft of Kuwait Airways has ever been grounded anywhere in the world due to safety reasons since its establishment.
Abdallah Al-Qaes, the Sales and Marketing Manager of KAC said the company achieved its expected sales target for the year 2011-2012 with revenues of KD 239 million, which is KD 14 million more than the revenues of last financial year.
Regarding the reduction of flight operations, Al-Qaes explained that due to the referral of some aircraft for maintenance as well as financial reasons, the flight operations to certain destinations were suspended. However, he affirmed that the company is prepared to cover 109 flights for 'Umrah'.
Deputy Director of Operations and Airline Safety Captain Shawqi Al-Ablani stressed that KAC aircraft undergo strict inspections by international engineers before every flight as well as in other airports by credible international organizations such as Eva European Company and an American company specialized in aviation safety.
