(MENAFN- Arab Times) Mubarak Al-Duwailah, a former lawmaker and executive member of Islamic Constitutional Movement (ICM) says the country will be dragged into political turmoil if the government fails to dissolve the 2009 National Assembly immediately after the oath-taking ceremony of the Cabinet, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Al-Duwailah said the verdict of the Constitutional Court is binding; however, he added he was surprised to note that the same court, which declared several times that the dissolution of the Parliament is prerogative of the leadership in which the courts could not interfere, has now turned around to take the action.
He called for thorough examination of the Fatwa and Legislation Department, claiming that they are no longer capable of raising opinions regarding the decisions made by the leadership.
He also demanded that certain articles in the Constitution should be reviewed to guarantee independence of the judiciary and to redirect the political activities of the country towards the right path.
He described the resignation of the majority bloc members of the nullified 2012 parliament as the right step.
He blamed successive governments for the political logjam in the country, saying, "They were engrossed in violations by succumbing to interferences from up and down.
