UAE- Jail term for drug pusher upheld

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld a lower court's ruling sentencing a 25-year-old Gulf national, identified as A. H., to five years in jail and fined him Dh20,000 on charge of pushing drugs to young people and driving under the influence of narcotics. In the same case, which involved four nationals of a Gulf country, the appellate court cleared S. M., 22, of the charge of possessing narcotics, but slapped him with a fine of Dh20,000 for driving under the influence of narcotics. The court ordered H. A., 21, to serve one year behind bars on charge of consuming the drug pills Tramadol. It also amended the lower court's verdict against A. Kh., 26, awarding him four years in jail in place of acquittal after he was found guilty of possessing narcotics.- The case goes back to April this year when the Fujairah Police received information that A. H. was involved in pushing drugs to youths.
