UAE- Youth knifes friend to death over woman

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 26-year-old UAE national was allegedly knifed to death by a compatriot friend in Rashidiya area of Dubai on Monday night following a heated argument over a woman. The suspect, who was arrested, told the police that he hammered the victim with a wooden board before stabbing him. According to the police, the victim's brother informed them about the murder around 1.30am on Tuesday. He told them that around 10.30pm on Monday when he left home, he saw his brother, M.S., arguing with his friend, S.A., aged 25, in front of their house. He noticed their voice raising and after sometime, he saw them going towards a sandy area around 150 metres from their house. Later in the night, he received a call from S.A.'s brother who told him that M.S. had died as he rushed him to a hospital. S.A.'s brother said his brother told him that he had injured M.S. and asked him to hurry up and transport him to the hospital. When he was rushing M.S. to the hospital, he noticed that the latter's head and face were covered with blood. He was also bleeding from the nose. There were bruises near his eye. On reaching the hospital, M.S. was pronounced dead. The body has been shifted to the General Department of Forensic Medicine and the police arrested S.A., who has a history of drug abuse. The police said during interrogation, S.A. confessed that he stabbed his compatriot with a knife over a dispute over a woman who worked at a nightclub. The suspect said he had beaten his friend with a wooden board and then stabbed him repeatedly. Brigadier Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said that the suspect's brother helped the police track down S.A. He was in a normal condition and not under the influence of any drugs when the police arrested him. The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution. Brig Al Mansouri praised S.A.'s brother and his family for cooperating with the police and showing them the place where the suspect was hiding. He also praised the people in the vicinity who alerted the police but did not intervene because knives were being used in the fight. Brig Al Mansouri called on the public to inform the police if they find anyone carrying arms or fighting in residential areas on toll-free number 800243 immediately so that the police could arrive on the scene before the fight leads to deaths. He also called on the families to monitor their children and ensure that they are not carrying arms.
