Jordan- Investors brief JIB chief about projects


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Jordan Investment Board (JIB) Acting Chief Executive Officer Awni Rushoud on Monday held separate meetings with Bahraini and Chinese investors. Mohammad Sajid, a member of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and head of the Industry Gold and Pearl Jewellery Committee, said a Bahraini panel is examining the Kingdom's industrial estates with the aim of establishing a gold jewellery factory and a jewellery art training centre in Jordan. During the meeting, Sajid said all preliminary preparations for the projected factory are ready pending the selection of a suitable location. Sajid indicated that the envisioned manufacturing facility is expected to create 2,000 job opportunities for Jordanians and will definitely contribute to boosting the volume of Jordan's internal and external trade. Rushoud noted that the JIB will look at the industrial estates that can be suitable and feasible for the projected factory in cooperation with the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation and the concerned agencies. Also yesterday, the executive director of Chinese Trina Solar Energy Co. Ltd. said the company has allocated $200 million to invest in the Kingdom's renewable energy sector during a meeting with Rushoud. The Chinese investor also indicated that China's Trina Solar will start implementing a solar energy project in Jordan once it obtains the necessary approvals from the concerned agencies.
