(MENAFN) The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) stated that at the end of last year, the UAE was the most expensive country in the GCC in terms of fuel prices, and the third in the Arab world, reported Emirates 24/7.

OAPEC said that gasoline prices in the UAE reached USD0.41 for regular petrol during the period and USD0.48 for premium type.

The country, which has the fourth largest hydrocarbon wealth in the region, had somewhat low petrol prices before a number of price hikes over the past 3 years.

It is worth noting that in Syria, regular petrol price exceeded USD0.54 at the current pound rate while in Tunisia it was around Dh0.69, and moreover, gasoline prices in the rest of the Arab world were below those of the UAE.
