Jordan alarmed at Treimseh massacre

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Jordanian government on Saturday expressed dismay and shock over the horrible massacre which left over 200 civilian deaths two days ago in Treimseh village, Hama Governorate, in central Syria. "We condemn in the strongest terms the despicable carnage in Treimseh where innocent civilians, children and women were massacred," said a government statement, citing Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Samih Al-Ma'ayta. "The Kingdom of Jordan is totally against any use of force or violence against armless civilians," said Al-Ma'ayta who doubles as government spokesman. He reiterated the call for an immediate halt to the bloodshed and a political solution to the conflict in neighboring Syria in a way that could preserve the country's unity and territorial integrity. The massacre drew large-scale condemnation from around the globe while the Syrian government insisted that it was a military operation against gunmen.
