UAE- Seven arrested over illegal phone calls

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested seven Asians during a crackdown on those involved in offering cheap international phone call services illegally. The police on Saturday arrested a 29-year-old man who allegedly offered a large number of international calls from his mobile phone using illegal software that allows the user to make calls without using local communication networks. It was found that he charged from his customers less than what they would pay on a local network. The team found out that the man used a programme on his mobile phone that connected to Internet accounts making it possible for his customers to make international calls. The police, on Thursday, arrested six Asians in various cases of offering illegal international phone call services. The suspects allegedly provided a service that enabled customers to pay Dh1 for five minutes of talk time.
