UAE- Maid steals Dh250,000 worth jewellery from house

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Ajman Police on Wednesday arrested an African maid for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Dh250,000 from the house of a family that employed her though she was not under their sponsorship. Major Raed Obaid Al Zaabi, Director of the General Police Centre in Ajman, said the centre received a complaint from an Arab family that their maid had run away after stealing a huge quantity of jewellery from their house in Al Jarz area. Colonel Abdallah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, said an intensive search was launched immediately. "The maid was eventually arrested from a residential area within four hours after receiving the complaint. She confessed that she was illegally working with the Arab family as she had run away from her actual sponsor. After stealing the jewellery, she broke open the house door and ran away." She is currently detained and will be referred to the Public Prosecution soon. Colonel Al Matrooshi urged people to avoid employing domestic helpers who are not under their sponsorship.
