(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Khaled Al-Jarallah was recently quoted as saying the Kuwait Embassy in Cairo is closely following up the investigations which are being conducted by the Egyptian security authorities in the death of a Kuwaiti citizen who allegedly fell to his death from the 25th floor of a hotel in Cairo, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.
Al-Jarallah added the authorities in Kuwait are still awaiting investigations by the Egyptian Public Prosecution to identify the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Abdulkarim Suleiman said this is one incident of its kind and can occur to any citizen anywhere. He said at this point in time he does not have any details about the 'death' of the Kuwaiti.
He also said the Egyptian Public Prosecution is still investigating the circumstances of the incident and legal action will be taken in this regard.
In the meantime, a reliable source in the Ministry of Interior affirmed the deceased was an employee of the Ministry of Interior and that he was on leave.
Sources in the ministry said a complete report on the investigation by the Egyptian authorities is awaited. It has been reported the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo and others affiliated to Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior are following up the investigations.
In the same context, the Al-Qabas daily said the Egyptian Forensic department is carrying out an autopsy on the victim to identify the cause of death. A sample from his intestine has been taken for analysis. The daily added the Kuwait Embassy has been notified of the procedures to extradite the remains of the victim to Kuwait.
A young Moroccan woman who had been taken into custody by the Prosecution has been released. During interrogation she is said to have denied any relationship with the late Kuwaiti.
She told interrogators she was sitting in the next apartment with her friend and she heard a thud.
The Egyptian state security investigations have ruled out any assumption of criminal suspicion. They say the youth might have been attempting to sneak into the apartment of the Moroccan from the balcony after she refused to open the door for him.
The security authorities say he may have lost his balance and fell to his death.
