(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Police are investigating a brawl that took place on Sunday between Libyan police officers receiving training at the Jordanian International Police Training Centre (JIPTC).
"There was a fight between a group of the Libyan trainees and we are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause," Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib said.
The trainees arrived in the Kingdom in April, the first of four batches of Libyan police officers to receive training at the JIPTC.
The 2,500 Libyan police personnel are among 10,000 expected to come to Jordan for training over the next two years.
Khatib stressed that those found to have been involved in the fight "will be sent back home as stipulated in the centre's regulations".
Khatib would not elaborate on the damage that resulted from the brawl, saying it was an internal matter for the JIPTC.
The training is part of a memorandum that was signed earlier this year between the PSD and the Libyan interior ministry and focuses on conducting police duties, investigations, and field work.
The JIPTC, which was established in 2003, has trained over 53,000 Iraqi police officers and 8,000 Palestinian police and national security officers, along with trainees from other Arab countries, according to the PSD.
