Bahrain plans to become an int'l cruise liner hub

(MENAFN) Bahrain is planning to cut charges levied on cruise ships, as it seeks to become an international cruise liner hub, Arabian Business reported. The General Organization of Sea Ports (GOP) held talks to formulate a strategy to boost the cruise tourism industry. The regulator said that topics discussed included the reduction of charges levied on the cruise ships and the provision of high quality services. In 2010, Royal Caribbean International dropped Bahrain from its Gulf cruise itinerary for the winter sailing season due to lack of demand for the destination.
