Hail festival creates 500 jobs for locals
(MENAFN - Arab News) The Hail Summer Tourism Festival has offered over 500 opportunities for local Saudis to work at the event in Al-Moghwa Park recently.

The 30-day festival draws huge numbers of people from various regions of the Hail province as well as tourists from other parts of the Kingdom and outside.

Adel Al-Hamzani, chairman of the festival's supreme organizing committee, said the festival has become a major event for people of the province.
He said: "We offer job opportunities for people of the region, especially youths, by giving them opportunities to use their administrative and organizational capabilities and skills. A large number of young men and women as well as elderly people flock to the committee seeking jobs."

He added the committee concluded agreements with a large number of youths to do work during the festival.

Al-Hamzani said the committee has offered more than 500 positions such as security guards, supervisors, salesmen and women, theater performers, event organizers, and investors.

The traditional market is one of the major attractions of the festival and showcases heritage pieces and antiques, particularly those related to women.

One saleswoman said a large number of visitors, especially those who are interested in collecting rare antiques, crowd the stalls in the market.
She said: "I have collected a large number of heritage pieces, mainly ornaments, from various places, particularly from Makkah.

"There is a huge demand for these items, and I get SR 50 to SR 70 for each piece while some unique collections are valued at over SR1,000."
She said old ornaments in the form of crescents, structures and drums are the most sought after.

Saudi woman Mozna Abdul Karim was the winner in a car draw held as part of the festival. She was the second winner of the car draw being conducted by the organizing committee. Al-Hamzani handed the keys of the car to her son.
