Jordan- Citadel Nights to return this Ramadan

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) For the second year in a row, the Amman Citadel (Jabal Qalaa) will entertain visitors during Ramadan with live concerts and other activities, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al Fayez said on Tuesday. Due to the "success" of the Citadel Nights Festival in its inaugural year, Fayez said, "we decided to organise it as an annual festival." "The festival will open to the public on the third day of Ramadan and will run until the 29th day of the month," Fayez told The Jordan Times over the phone. Ramadan this year is expected to begin around July 20. He noted that this year's festival will host several concerts and include an array of stalls selling handicrafts and sweets. "There will be also a booth for residents of Jabal Qalaa to display whatever handicrafts they manufacture," Fayez said, explaining that this is part of the ministry's strategy to involve local communities in the tourism industry. The entry fee will be JD5 like last year, the minister said, and will include light snacks and juice. This year, there will also be a designated area for children with age-appropriate activities, he added. The minister also noted that the festivals organised in different governorates throughout the year seek to encourage both domestic and inbound tourism. Citadel nights is organised by the ministry and supported by USAID, the Greater Amman Municipality, the Jabal Amman Residents Association and the private sector.
