RIM may seperate, sell handset division: The Sunday Times

(MENAFN) Canada's Research in Motion (RIM) may break its handset manufacturing division into a separate listed firm or sell it as it is mulling dividing its business in two, reported The Sunday Times. The British newspaper added that the maker of BlackBerry may also keep the handset manufacturing division and the messaging network together; however, it could sell a stake to a larger technology company. Another option was that RIM could also sell its messaging network or open it up to rivals, including Apple and Google to make income. It is worth noting that although RIM held a number of takeover negotiations in 2011, nevertheless, the talks didn't result in an M&A transaction.
