(MENAFN) Algerian government officials said that the USD100 million Algeria East-West Highway project is on track, expecting to finish it on schedule in 2014, Trade Arabia reported.
The project, which extends 1,300km across the desert, and 700km side highway in the upper hills, forms part of the government's nationwide development plan.
In May, the Ministry of Public Works unveiled plans to allocate USD87 billion for transportation infrastructure development, including roads, ports, and airports by 2014.
The Algerian Infrastructure Summit is being organized in capital Algiers by French business information group naseba from September 16 to 17, with the aim to enhance the North African country's infrastructure.
naseba said the event seeks to attract leading construction firms, architects and real estate developers to up to 100 projects from Algeria.
The event already attracted the interest of leaders in infrastructure including Yuksel from Turkey, Mapna Group from Iran and India-based Varmora.
