Malaysia Seeks More Chinese Investments

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Malaysia aims to attract more investments from China, particularly in the field of telecommunications, transportation, construction and steel manufacturing under the country s Economic Transformation Programme, Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said. He said Malaysia welcomes China's multinational companies to contribute at carrying out the Electrified Double-Track railway project, worth of RM 8 billion and extending over 197 kilometres from Gemas to Johor Bharu. He also said that other Chinese firms' contributions at the Malaysian market are welcome. "I do hope that more joint venture projects will be undertaken both in Malaysia and China in the future," he said. Malaysia is China s biggest trading partner in the South East Asian region with trade volume amounting to more than US$54 billion or RM165 billion in 2012, according to Malaysia's news agency (Bernama).
