UAE, Italy looking for ways to boost trade relations


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Under the patronage His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a UAE delegation headed by UAE Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri has concluded a visit to the Italian Republic, where they met with senior Italian officials in Rome, Lazio, Ancona and the Marche region. The delegation included senior officials from both government and private sectors from the UAE. Both sides discussed ways to enhance prospects for economic cooperation and trade relations between the two countries, as well as strengthening the relationship between businessmen and investors from the UAE and Italy, especially in the areas of health care, renewable energy, fashion and food industry. Al Mansouri, in his concluding remarks of the UAE-Italian Economic Forum in the presence of a group of businessmen and investors from both countries, has praised the support and patronage of Shaikh Mohammed to this visit and the 4th meeting of the joint committee that was held in June 2011 in the presence of Shaikh Mohammed. Al Mansouri noted that trade rates between the two countries increased by 20 per cent during the first quarter of this year. Italian exports to the UAE grew by 28.5 per cent during 2011, while UAE exports to Italy grew by 91.2 per cent. He has called for strategic partnerships with the Italian side to explore investment opportunities in the Middle East and North Africa region.
