(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has reportedly canceled the residence (iqama) of 69,230 expatriates, out of which 28,918 were canceled as they have permanently left Kuwait, while the residence of 39,606 expatriates were cancelled as they were unable to return to the country for employment and 706 due to death of concerned expatriates, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily.
An official report indicated that 1,85,950 transfers were made within the private sector and 4,679 transfers were made from the private sector to the public sector.
It specified that the residence of 412 expatriates were transferred from the public to private sector and 8,338 domestic visas were transferred to the private sector.
It also revealed that 14,127 visit visas and 7,598 dependant visas were converted for employment in the private sector.
In another development, Director of Women and Children Department at Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Ali Al-Romi has revealed his plans to categorize private nurseries as 4-star or 5-star, based on the level of services rendered at the nursery in the same way hotels are categorized.
He emphasized that this move will encourage nurseries to improve their services.
Al-Romi also revealed that he is planning to spread awareness about using public gardens for the children's recreation and encourage the community to participate in events organized at the leisure parks.
Al-Romi announced that a comprehensive activity-based program will be launched in public gardens from July, adding that a summer program will be implemented at Qadsiya public garden, which will involve activities for women and children such as religious seminars, memorization of the Holy Qur'an, psychological and social consultation services, sports and games.
