Jordan- Police investigating murder of five from same family

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Police on Wednesday said they have formed a committee to investigate the brutal murder of five people, all from the same family, in Sweileh neighbourhood, north Amman. The victims include a 54-year-old man, his 49-year-old wife, their two sons 20 and 12, and the husband's 53-year-old brother, Police Spokesperson Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khatib said. They were found around 6:00pm when one of their relatives became worried about them because they would not answer her calls, the police official told The Jordan Times. "The relative, with the help of the neighbours, broke down the door and they spotted the bodies covered with white sheets," the police official explained. When investigators arrived at the scene, Khatib added, they found three bodies in the living room and found another in the kitchen and the fifth in one of the bedrooms. The five were shot to death, according to Khatib. "We still do not have a motive and are investigating the incident," Khatib added. The Jordan Times has learnt that the family belong to a southern tribe. The father was a retired science teacher who has been teaching in the neighbourhood for years and his elder son was a college student. The bodies were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for an official autopsy, a second official said. "We are waiting for autopsy results that will help us with the investigation," the official added.
