Boy unscathed after crawling through traffic

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A seven-year-old challenged boy, who crawled out of his house and miraculously escaped being run over by traffic in Dubai, was returned safely to his family by police on Tuesday. An Emirati found the boy on a street in Jafliya and took him to the Bur Dubai police station. The boy appeared to be both physically and mentally challenged. Colonel Ali Ghanim, Director of the Bur Dubai police station, said the boy was brought to his office and his clothes were very dirty. ''It looked like he had crawled all the way from home.'' Police official tried to talk to the boy to find clues to his parents, but it did not help. Reports were reviewed but there was nothing about a missing boy. Two hours later, police accompanied the Arab child and the man who found him to Jafliya. Enquiries in the area revealed the boy was the son of a local imam. They located his house and found the mother who said she was frantically searching for him. She said the door was left open and the child had managed to slip out and that she had intended to inform the police. Colonel Ghanim said police returned the child to the family on the condition that they would never let him out of their sights again. ''But we still wonder how the boy managed to crawl 900 metres through traffic and escaped unscathed,'' said Colonel Ghanim.
