UAE- Worker accused of bid to rape maid

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A 30-year-old Indian worker stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Tuesday on the charge of trying to rape a maid after he trespassed into her sponsor's villa in Rashidiya. The 25-year-old Filipina told the prosecutor that the incident happened in March. She was in the laundry washing clothes when she saw the defendant, who was employed by her sponsor's relative, standing behind her. She ran inside her room but he followed her and closed the door. He allegedly hugged her and kissed her neck. When she tried to call her sponsor's wife from her mobile phone, he snatched the phone. He allegedly told her that she would have to have sex with him to get her phone back. According to her he pulled her pants down and tried to force himself on her but she resisted him. When she bit his hand, he pulled it away and she managed to break away from him. She took her room key from a table and struggled with him as she wanted to lock him inside. After locking him in, she went inside the villa and found that the housewife was still away. None else was there but a sleeping child. She realised later that the defendant escaped through her room window. When the housewife came back soon after, she told her what had happened and the latter called the police. The maid said during investigation that the defendant had tried to have sex with her before also in her room but she pushed him away. It happened when he came to the house for some electrical repair work. He entered her room saying he wanted her sponsor's mobile phone number and to her surprise, he hugged and kissed her. She informed this to her sponsor's wife and was told to ignore the defendant and not get close to him. The maid's sponsor said the worker was employed by his neighbour, a relative. He called the worker on his mobile phone and told him to come. The defendant admitted in front of him and the cops that he had trespassed into the property and said he was sorry. However, the maid's sponsor did not accept his apology and filed a complaint against him.
