Spain doesn't need financial aid: IMF

(MENAFN) The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) director, Christine Lagarde, stated that the fund has no plan to provide financial aid to Spain, reported Xinhua News. Lagarde also said that the IMF didn't receive any request from Madrid for a financial assistance. However, as Spain's fourth-largest bank might require USD23.52 billion rescue from its own government, other Spanish banks maybe undergoing financial problems that will force Spain to request an aid from the IMF and the EU. It is worth noting that Lagarde's recent statements that she had more sympathy for poor children in Africa than Greek people, who evaded paying their taxes, triggered reactions in the debt-ridden country and caused offense, however, IMF spokesman, Gerry Rice, stated that the comments were misunderstood.
