Qatar- QP and Qatar University Sign Cooperation Agreement


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) HE Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al Sada who is also Qatar Petroleum (QP) CEO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HE Qatar University (QU) President Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad, about developing initiatives and new means of bilateral cooperation. According to the agreement, QP will help representatives of the university academicians and teachers to attend international conferences and meetings it hosts, while QU will develop specialized programs for QP staff to identify new challenges and technologies in the sector of energy and industry. In his speech during the occasion, HE Dr. Al Sada said that the agreement is an example of strong partnership between the industrial and academic sectors in the continuous specialized development for students, colleges and staff. "Cooperation with QU has begun years ago and the agreement is a step towards increasing bilateral cooperation, as we all actively striving to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030. Thus, the policies are unified and they complement each other," HE Dr. Al Sada said. HE the minister highlighted QU's role in giving the opportunity for QP staff to participate in the committees of training and programs, which allows for compatibility between the two entities, so as to serve the job market associated with oil and gas industry. "QP is in a constant race for the recruitment and rehabilitation of citizens due to the significant growth of the Qatari economy, especially in the industrial sector, which is growing at significantly greater extent that outpaces the number of qualified Qataris," HE Dr. Al Sada said. In turn, HE Professor Sheikha Abdulla Al-Misnad said that the relationship between QU and QP is firm and dates back to the establishment of the university, adding that the two parties have been committed to social responsibility for more than 20 years. Al Minsad revealed that QP sponsors 160 students on and off campus, noting that this is why QP is major partner of QU and isn't considered a separate entity. She added that the university is keeping pace with industrial expansions in the country, and adopts, jointly with its partners, policies that helps produce graduates according to the needs of the job market. The MoU signed on Tuesday , is the second to be concluded between QP and QU in the past six months, as the two sides previously signed another one last November to enhance future cooperation between them in the field of energy and environment.
