Jordan- Japan decides additional grant for Syrian refugees


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Japan announced the issuance of an additional $5 million emergency grant to address the plight of Syrian refugees, a Japanese embassy statement said on Tuesday. Of the total sum, $3 million will be given to Jordan and Lebanon to secure food for refugees in the two countries, according to a Japanese embassy statement sent to The Jordan Times. Jordan's share of the $3 million will be determined by the UN World Food Programme, the statement said. Of the remaining $2 million, to be dispersed through the UNHCR, $700,000 will be given to Jordan, the embassy added. In February this year, the government of Japan made a contribution of $2 million for the protection of Syrian refugees.
