(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) The United States has condemned the massacre in the Syrian village of Haoula, the State Department said in a media statement.

"The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms yesterday's massacre in the Syrian village of Haoula. United Nations observers have confirmed that dozens of men, women, and children were killed and hundreds more wounded in a vicious assault that involved a regime artillery and tank barrage on a residential neighborhood.

"Those who perpetrated this atrocity must be identified and held to account. The United States will work with the international community to intensify our pressure on Asad and his cronies, whose rule by murder and fear must come to an end.

"We stand in solidarity with the Syrian people and the peaceful marchers in cities across Syria who have taken to the streets to denounce the massacre in Haoula," the statement said. (QNA)

Kuwait Condemns Crime in Syrian Houla Town
Kuwait, May 27 (QNA) - The State of Kuwait has strongly condemned the "heinous" crime committed by the Syrian government forces in the town of Houla in Homs that killed and injured many people, mostly women and children.

Kuwait " condemns the excessive use of force by the Syrian regime against unarmed people," a foreign ministry source said in a brief statement to Kuwait news agency "KUNA".

As rotating president of the Arab League Council, said the source, Kuwait started contacting regional and international parties, as well as urging the international community to live up to its responsibility towards stopping bloodshed in Syria, and providing security for the Syrian people.

The State of Kuwait, added the source, would also contact its Arab League partners to hold an urgent ministerial meeting to discuss how to put an end to the "practices of oppression against the Syrian people".
