UAE- DEC visits US to establish strategic partnerships

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Economic Council, or DEC, recently conducted a visit to the United States, as part of its vision of being a strategic partner to the Government of Dubai in economic policy-making. The delegation, led by DEC secretary-general Hani Al Hamli along with its executive team, visited various international law and financial development institutions and policy-making centres in the United States. Al Hamli stated that the main aim of the visit was to anchor strategic partnerships and cooperation with a number of decision-making networks and international organisations in the US to improve the economic ties between the UAE and the US. He pointed out that the UAE-US economic relations are unique. The US is the main trading partner for the UAE and Dubai. Since the establishment of UAE, the relations between the two countries developed covering various areas not only in trade and investment but as well in the cultural, educational and political sectors. The DEC delegation's visit was initiated with the Commercial Law Development Programme, or CLDP, where Al Hamli singed a letter of intent with CLDP chief counsel Stephen Gardner. During the signing ceremony, Al Hamli praised the significant cooperation made by the CLDP with the DEC in revising a number of federal and local commercial law drafts with the aim of strengthening the legal infrastructure of the UAE economy. Al Hamli stressed the necessity of initiating an action plan to translate the agreement between the two parties into practical steps.
