(MENAFN) Mobile operator Qatar Telecom Company (Qtel) entered into partnership with China's Huawei to extend the Fibre-to-the Home scheme to deliver advanced broadband services in the Gulf country, Trade Arabia reported.
The deal includes expanding Qtel's fibre broadband to cover an additional 90,000 connections, which will bring the broadband penetration close to 100 per cent of the households and business in Qatar.
The project is the largest infrastructure project of its kind to be implemented by Qtel, with Internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
The high-speed bandwidth capacity of fibre will deliver a much higher quality of online experience for customers in Qatar, making an important contribution to the educational, commercial and governmental sectors.
