Jordan- Ministry supervisor, teenager detained on molestation charges

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) A Ministry of Social Development supervisor and a 15-year-old boy were charged on Tuesday with molesting a minor at one of the ministry's centres in Madaba two months ago, official sources said. The employee, who was not identified by officials, was charged with molesting a 16-year-old who was staying at the Madaba Care and Rehabilitation Centre for Beggars. He was detained for 15 days pending further investigation into the case, according to the director of policies and strategic management at the ministry, Fawaz Ratrout. The ministry official said the 15-year-old boy, who was staying at the centre, was also charged with molesting the minor and the criminal prosecutor issued orders for him to be detained at a juvenile detention centre pending further investigation. Ratrout told The Jordan Times that the victim came to the rehabilitation centre almost two-and-a-half months ago after being arrested by ministry officials for begging in the streets. On Sunday he decided to file a complaint against the supervisor and the teenager for allegedly molesting him at the centre. "The victim was referred to the Family Protection Unit that is affiliated with the police department and they opened an investigation into the incident," Ratrout added.
