(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Dubai Press Club today highlighted the overwhelming response the recently concluded 11th Arab Media Forum and Arab Journalism Awards received across digital platforms.
Organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event was held from 8-9 May at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted six times on the hashtag ¿#AMF' offering his vision on the role of the youth in responsibly using social media. He also commended the youth for their participation at AMF 2012.
Over the two-day duration, the ¿Arab Media Forum' and the hash tag ¿#AMF' remained the top trending topics on Twitter, across the UAE and the region - a significant achievement considering the past editions gained only a couple of hours of interest throughout the event. Additionally, the hash tag ¿#AMF', which generated 10,432 tweets over two days, reached an audience of more than 11 million users. Live Twitter coverage of the sessions and workshops enabled non-attendants to follow the proceedings in real time.
The initiative to appoint an independent digital reporter and upload the event's proceedings on social media sites facilitated 40,000 individuals to witness the proceedings of the sessions. Over 17,000 users viewed the sessions of the inaugural day. In his capacity as the digital reporter, Nour Aldin Al Yousuf from Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) captured the key comments of panellists and moderators during each session to produce and upload three minute capsules that summarised the outcomes.
An additional team monitored questions posed on Twitter and Facebook, which was relayed to the digital correspondent Nour Aldin Al Yousuf. He interacted with speakers to gain responses to the queries during every session and workshop.
Apart from social media, AMF 2012 was streamed live over the internet. Over two days, the DPC team uploaded over 300 photographs and close to 100 videos in real time. The endeavour allowed a larger number of people around the world to gain a holistic experience of the event.
The digital plan of AMF delivered on its objective to increase interaction and discussion with stakeholders outside the UAE, which enriched the dialogue and heightened its benefits. The possibility of participating at AMF 2012 was not limited to attending the event, but drew on the perspectives of media, observers, decision-makers, researchers and thought leaders regardless of geographic location.
The use of latest technological innovations, the remarkably strong participation especially across the digital platforms, the presence of new media celebrities and the incisive topics that drew out extremely fresh perspectives made the 11th Arab Media Forum an exceptional success.
The Arab Media Forum has garnered year-on-year success through the past 10 editions, validating Dubai and the UAE's ability to host high-profile events that draw a significant international media presence.
Themed ¿Arab Media: Exposure and Transition', the 11th Arab Media Forum brought together over 3,800 regional and international journalists, as well as influential decision makers, opinion leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators. The highly anticipated Arab Journalism Awards attracted over 1,200 media professionals.
In the run up to AMF 2012, Dubai Press Club released the key findings of the fourth Arab Media Outlook, providing projections for the regional media sector up to 2015. Every attendee to AMF 2012 was handed a copy of the report.
