US Urban Outfitters posts USD34m Q1 profit


(MENAFN) Urban Outfitters' Inc. CEO, Richard Hayne, stated that profit during the first quarter reached USD34 million, compared with USD38.6 million a year earlier, reported AP. Hayne added that during the three-months period that ended April 30, revenue rose 9 percent to USD568.9 million, from USD524 million. Moreover, the company which owns the Free People, Anthropologie, Terrain and BHLDN brands, posted 6 percent gain in its namesake stores open at least a year, whereas revenue from Free People stores was up 2 percent, and revenue at Anthropologie stores open at least a year dipped 2 percent. It is worth noting that sales of Urban Outfitters, which runs 170 Anthropologie stores, 69 Free People stores, 2 BHLDN stores and 1 Terrain Garden center, jumped 15 percent to direct customers, while sales in its small wholesale division went up 2 percent.
