(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) An oil refinery Kuwait plans to build will have a production capacity of 614,000 barrels per day (bpd) aims at meeting domestic and international demands of low-sulfur by-products, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation's (KPC) CEO said Sunday.
Farouk Al-Zanki, speaking to KUNA on sidelines of the Middle East Petrotech Conference 2012, said growing global demands on low-sulfur by-products "has triggered importance of the establishment of a new refinery which will have environmental-friendly products like environmental fuel."
The new refinery, he said, will focus on honoring domestic market's demands through offering environmental-friendly products.
Al-Zanki said Kuwait was developing its refineries to produce environmental-friendly products to be markerted locally and abroad.
With the establishment of the new refinery, noted Al-Zanki, total production capacity would increase from 936,000 bpd to 1.4 million bpd.
