Kuwait- PBAK 2012 Bowling League kicks off


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Two weeks after the conclusion of the Winter League, the PBAK keglers were back once again at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Khaifan for the roll off of the PBAK 2012 Summer Tenpin Bowling League. This year's edition of the summer bowling competition organized by the Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait (PBAK) attracted 19 teams headed by defending league champion Cozmo 2 and out to try to dethrone the entertainment magnates are D'Islanders, Siete Pares, 300 Bowleros, NLB , Klasmeyts Al Khadda, K2E2, Delima Blazers, Cozmo 1, World Class, BOSE, Incredibowls, Xpress Rollers, Aziz Strikers, Asian Air Safari, Swooping Eagles, Nusantara, LEAF and El Diablo. After the opening day formalities, the lane hostilities kicked off and taking the early leader board supremacy were D' Islanders and BOSE who booked identical impressive victories over separate opponents. Fresh from its first runner up stint in the Winter League, D' Islanders proved that their feat was no fluke by grounding the Swooping Eagles via a convincing 3,169-2,632 decision. In dominating their rivals in all three games of the match, Fe Ferrer, Bert Pantanilla, Rolly David, Danny Doctor and Bobby Carambas carried the scoring load in D'Islanders' 1,103-916, 995-856 and 1,046-860 victory. Bowling for the Swooping Eagles in this match were Danny Solis, Riz Roque, Gil Anselmo, Aisha Ishmael, Josie Lorino and Alonzo Bush. In the same manner, the sound masters of BOSE also dished out a noteworthy performance in sharing the limelight with the early leader. Paired with the Aziz Strikers for its maiden outing, BOSE was tapped as underdogs of the match based on the much higher classification of the Aziz Strikers crew. With its formidable lineup bowling true to form, Aziz Strikers bannered by Fadel Qassem, Janet Shaikh, Aziz Aslawi, Mohannad Ibrahim and Abdulrahman Abdulsalam brushed aside BOSE in game one of the 3-game series match 1,105-961. A reversal of form by both teams in game 2 saw BOSE taking over the lead as the sound specialists crushed Aziz Strikers 1,111-832. Ahead after 2 games 2,072-1,937, BOSE with Pilar Villanueva, Rod Dulay, Bob Navarro, Eddie Pena, Joel Tizon, Sam Behbehani and Edgar Pascua went on to clinch the match 3,122-2896 after its 1,025-959 victory in game 3. Also off to a good start were the two teams of Cozmo who went up against separate opponents. Cozmo 1 who took third place in the standings defeated the equally strong Delima Blazers in a high scoring match 3,067-2,994. Led by the quintet of Aldin Avila, Cris Bulacja, Ruben Cervantes, Michele Avila and Maricar Ruben, Cozmo 1 moved on top with a 1000-902 win in game 1. In game two the Delima Blazers headed by Rudy Delima, Rod Lllait, Ed Mendoza, Joel Tamayo and Vicky Navarro came strong with a 1,032-930 decision that gave them a slim 1,934-1,930 after two games. In the closely contested third game, the two teams traded strikes and spares but with Aldin, Cris and Michele all rolling 200 games Cozmo 1 subdued Delima Blazers 1,112-1,060 to win the match. Meanwhile, defending champion Cozmo 2 also debuted with a victory against the Nusantara. Taking advantage of their light assignment, Cozmo 2 spearheaded by Noe Mahayag, Jun Hosmillo, Fahad Abul, Farid Gabriel, Aris de Guzman and Jeanette Angeles swept the 3-games series via 1,003-858, 1,077-897 and 904-861 on their way to a 3,034-2,616 total pin falls victory. World Class on the other hand also opened up their campaign with a bang by beating Klasmeyts Al Khadda 2,979-2,823. Top pin busters for World Class in its three straight 950-904, 989-945 and 1,015-974 game victories were Bill Stiles, Mousa Abdullah, Ted Ashley, Dan Montano and Carol Awadi. Joining the group inside the week 1 winner's circle was 300 Bowleros who stopped the Indian pin busters of El Diablo 2,988-2,551. In posting their 1,008-862, 999-833 and 956-856 winning streak, Freddie Santos, Bobby Ferrera, Al Belarmino, Dariel Cartas and Jane Nance carried the scoring load for 300 Bowleros. In the other matches of the opening week, the NLB pump specialists led by Mike Garcia, Eden Oning, Elvie Sotio and Kevin Yap down Siete Pares 2,972-2,745, Xpress Rollers with Tony Zuleta, Caloy Garay and Liza Catapia at the helm stopped LEAF 2,943-2,585, D'Incredibles headed by Jun Guerra, Mandy Manalo, Norie Sairat and Tariq Sairat beat Asian Air Safari 2,899-2,702 and K2E2 who bowled all alone submitted a total score of 2,848 pin falls.
