(MENAFN - Arab News) A weeklong forum organized by the General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training began yesterday at The Secondary Technical and Industrial Institute in Jeddah.
The forum on marketing training was inaugurated by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Zahrani, director of technical education for Makkah and chairman of the institute in Makkah.
The aim of the event is to benefit students and employees of both organizations as a joint venture in technical training.
The forum will endeavor to provide the necessary training programs to trainees of different professions according to the needs of various sectors and companies, in addition to facilitating learning programs according to the objectives and policies of the institutions.
The technical institute's mission is to prepare students in various field including mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance, maintenance of printers, faxes, computer maintenance, carpentry, printing, electricity and photography.
The institute is planning to implement professional training programs and technical and vocational training programs for prisoners in jails.
Al-Zahrani said vocational and technical training programs need to be implemented according to current and future expectations.
He also said this joint venture has also been organized to contribute to the establishment of a standard process of implementing such programs and increase the efficiency and quality to make young people capable of playing a part in the development of the country in both the public and private sectors.
