Jordan- Cinema closed for showing porn movies

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) The Audiovisual Commission on Tuesday closed down a cinema in downtown Amman for showing pornographic movies. The commission's director general, Amjad Qadi, said owners of the movie hall violated the moral values of Islam and Jordanian society by screening pornographic movies. Qadi added that the commission issued several warnings to the movie hall to comply with its permit regulations, but it ignored them all and continued to screen pornographic films. He also noted the commission's mandate includes monitoring all audiovisual content in the country, and it has the authority to issue and withdraw licences according to legal basis. Qadi called on movie houses to observe Jordanian values and morals when selecting content to screen, taking into consideration the fact that young people constitute the largest segment of their audience, who need special attention and a decent education.
