Jordan Cabinet examines measures to reduce public spending


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) The Council of Ministers on Tuesday discussed a set of measures the government intends to take to curb public spending and narrow the budget deficit. During a session, headed by Prime Minister Fayez Tarawaneh, the Cabinet looked into options to reduce operational expenses at public agencies by 15 per cent and capital expenditures by 10 per cent, and decrease financial support for public independent institutions. The Council of Ministers also annulled the 2010 amendments to the Civil Retirement Law as they were rejected by both Houses of Parliament.
