Iraq issues tender for USD340m breakwater


(MENAFN) The General Company for Ports of Iraq's spokesman, Anmar al-Safi, stated that Iraq issued a tender for the construction of the USD340 million breakwater on the Grand Faw port, reported Reuters. Al-Safi added that bidders will be invited to discuss tender details at the end of the current month, whereas the closing date for the tender is July 15, and offers will be opened on July 16. He said that the port, which is expected to cost USD6 billion, will be located south of Basra, the country's oil hub. It is worth noting that the port will comprise 7,000 meters of dock to receive container ships, while the dock for general cargo will be 3,500 meters.
