India To Buy 145 Howitzers, Says Defense Ministry Spokesman


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) India has agreed to purchase 145 howitzers from American defense contractor BAE Systems Inc. as it pushes to modernize its military. Defense Ministry spokesman Sitanshu Kar said Saturday that the government will spend 30 billion (Indian) rupees (US$560 million) on the M777 artillery. No further details of the deal were immediately available, according to a report of the Associated Press.
