(MENAFN- Jordan Times) The Land Transport Workers Association (LTWA) on Saturday called on Transport Minister Hashem Masaeed, who is also chairman of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission board of directors, to exempt taxi drivers from taxes and fees if they replace their cars with hybrid vehicles.
The LTWA said dozens of taxi drivers had requested that their vehicles, whose operational age is about to expire, be replaced with hybrids.
The association also said the use of hybrid cars as taxis was in line with the licensing regulations for taxis, noting that the Customs Department granted tax exemptions for petrol-powered cars used for public utility purposes but not for hybrid cars.
