(MENAFN) Curis Inc. stated that profit during the first quarter ranched USD2.2 million, compared with a loss of USD6.8 million in last year's same period, reported AP.
The drug developer attributed the results to the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval for the company's skin cancer treatment Erivedge early in the quarter.
The Lexington, Mass.-based firm also said that revenue during the period grew to USD10.4 million, compared with USD133,538.
Moreover, Curis' expenses surged 49 percent from USD5.5 million to USD8.2 million.
It is worth noting that Erivedge is a local treatment for advanced basal cell carcinoma, which is the most common type of skin cancer, and Erivedge is the only federally approved drug to treat advanced cases.
