Samsonite plans to acquire privately held firms

(MENAFN) Samsonite International's chief executive, Tim Parker, stated that the company plans to acquire smaller privately held firms in order to expand its portfolio, reported Reuters. Parker added that the world's biggest luggage manufacturer may buy brands in Europe or North America at the current time, as the firm eyes new markets. On the other hand, he said that the company's sales in Europe were hampered by the economic crisis; however, the sluggish growth was offset by higher demand from Asia and the Americas. It is worth noting that the Luxembourg-based company makes luggage, business bags and travel accessories.
