Iran, China sign agreement to build electric vehicles

(MENAFN) Iranian Department of Environment's (DoP) Acting Head, Ali-Mohammad Sha'eri, announced that the country inked deals with Chinese parties to start manufacturing electric buses and minibuses in Iran, reported Tehran Times. Sha'eri added that the project, which will start next year, will be launched by the country's private sector and will be supported by the DoP. He also said that an electric public transportation system will help reduce pollution in Iran's main cities, mainly Tehran, as over 70 percent of pollution in such cities comes from vehicles. It is worth noting that the agreements between the two sides were signed during an Iranian delegates' visit to a number of industrial units engaged in manufacturing electric vehicles in Shanghai.
