Oman deports 1,149 illegals


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) More than 1,000 foreigners, most of them Asians, who had entered the sultanate illegally, were deported last month. Fifteen of the 1,149 people who were sent back to their home countries were women, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said. Lt-Col Abdulkarim bin Murad Al Balushi, ROP's Director of the Illegal Immigration Control Department said most of them were arrested as they attempted to enter the country. After their arrest, the infiltrators are taken to detention centres where they are held and later deported as per international agreements and regulations, Balushi said.
