Jordan- Police seeking gunman

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) Police on Saturday said they were searching for a man who allegedly killed another man with an automatic rifle in the Hassa area. The 30-year-old victim was reportedly gunned down following a heated argument with the suspect, Public Security Department (PSD) Spokesperson Lt. Col. Mohammad Khatib said. "The two agreed to meet to discuss the dispute and a heated argument erupted," the police official said. He added that an initial investigation indicated that the victim "was carrying a gun and the suspect was carrying an automatic rifle and that both weapons were used". Witnesses told investigators that the suspect "shot at the victim, killing him instantly, then fled on foot", according to Khatib. "We have a good description of the suspect and are currently following his tracks and we will eventually arrest him," the PSD spokesman said. Also Saturday, Khatib said investigators were still questioning the head of the Duleil post office, who claimed he was attacked and robbed of JD8,000 by two people. The post office director said he had withdrawn JD20,000 from a bank near the post office and placed it in a plastic bag, and was attacked by two men as he left the bank, the PSD official said, quoting the alleged victim's initial testimony. He said that he struggled with them and after they ran away he discovered that JD8,000 was missing, Khatib added. "We still do not have any suspects and are still questioning the post office director for further leads and information," Khatib told The Jordan Times.
