(MENAFN Press) AGIP was recognized for being the biggest Intellectual Property firm in registering and recording trademarks with Dubai Customs

DUBAI “ April 30, 2012 - In recognition of its significant role in safeguarding Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), Dubai Customs honored Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) in a special ceremony marking World Intellectual Property Day at the Royal Mirage Hotel in Dubai.
AGIP was recognized for being the biggest Intellectual Property firm in registering and recording trademarks with Dubai Customs.
Executive Director of AGIP UAE Offices Mr. Amjad El Husseini who received the reward on behalf of AGIP said: "We are really proud to be recognized for the third year in a row by Dubai Customs under the guidance of our Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh."

He added:"On the other hand, it proves the awareness of the trademarks owners around the world for the vital role that Dubai Customs plays in safeguarding their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the UAE."

The reward was presented by Mr. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs and Mr. Yousuf Ozair, Senior Manager of IPR Department at Dubai Customs.
Honoring AGIP coincides with the world's celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day. In 2000, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Member States decided to designate an annual World Intellectual Property Day. They chose April 26, the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO originally entered into force in 1970.
Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) was established in Kuwait in 1972, under the name of T.M.P Agents in a time when Intellectual Property (IP) protection was still in its early stages of development in the Arab region. However, since our launch, AGIP has consistently been at the forefront of efforts to improve the infrastructure of IP in the Arab world.
To this end, AGIP has worked in close coordination with Arab governments and multilateral organizations on introducing an efficient IP system that has brought up significant changes to the region.
